Day One Arrival at Edinburgh and free time to explore the wonderful City of

Day Two This morning we set off for the Highlands where there is a nostalgic trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway. The nine-and-a-half-mile journey through unspoilt Highland scenery ends in Aviemore, where you're free to explore. We then continue on to the UK's highest railway at Cairngorm Mountain, which is renowned for its magnificent views. Overnight Aviemore.

Day Three Today we follow the breathtaking run from the Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness, as featured by Michael Palin in his series 'Great Railway Journeys of World', through the breathtaking scenery used in the filming of the BBC TV series 'Hamish Macbeth' Overnight in Inverness the Capital of the Highlands.

Day Four Our final trip takes us along the dramatic West Highland Line to Mallaig, overlooking the Isle of Skye. We'll cross the spectacular 21-arch Glenfinnan viaduct, as featured in the Harry Potter films and rumble past the beautiful white sands of Morar. Once in Mallaig you can explore the pretty fishing village or admire the views across to Skye. Overnight in Fort William.

Day Five Return to Edinburgh via Ballachullish, Killin and Stirling.
